Disney Aulani Character Breakfast

Watch the video!

Rory’s 3rd Birthday Present

Aloha, Mickey & Friends! One year ago, our kids had no clue who Mickey Mouse was…until they attended a friend’s Mickey-themed birthday party. Rory got a stuffed Mickey Mouse as a prize and he was instantly in love with it. Ever since, anytime he saw Mickey Mouse anything, he got so excited! He slept with his Mickey, carted it around the house and in the car – so it only seemed like a perfect gift to let him meet Mickey and his friends in person as his big 3rd birthday present!

The Disney Aulani Resort is BEAUTIFUL! Seriously, check out the photo gallery below. It blew me away!

Favorite memories from the day are mostly included in the video. The boys were both so excited to go, but then got super nervous when they met Mickey first. The breakfast buffet was good, and Minnie Mouse and Goofy rotated around the tables giving each child their attention. Sometimes it was welcomed, sometimes not – lol. Rory even got a special song sung to him by Aunty, which made him painfully shy. The staff sang happy birthday and let him blow out a candle, which delighted him. To cap off the day, the boys got to meet and talk with Moana!!! This was a huge highlight for them, and I personally loved it because Moana was the first Disney movie my kids latched onto. It came out after we moved to Hawaii and has been a favorite since the first time we watched it!

We had a WONDERFUL time at the Disney Aulani Makahiki Character Breakfast and they treated our birthday boy like royalty. We highly recommend this experience – especially when you live on Oahu and a trip to a big Disney theme park isn’t an easy option!

Tips for when you go: reserve in advance online! This is a popular daily event and it books weeks in advance, so plan ahead. If it’s a special occasion, like a birthday, tell the hostess when you check in with your reservation at the Makahiki Restaurant. For Rory’s birthday, they gave him a personalized birthday button to wear. We reminded our waitress it was his birthday and she brought out the birthday mini-cake, candle, and a small group to sing. Parking is at the hotel, so save your dining receipt and take it to the hostess desk for a validation stamp to get free parking.
